I disagree with this one ....

Most zone read handoffs start in the basket behind the QB and end forward ...... Are we going to rule dropped handoffs as incomplete forward passes? Going to use instant replay to make that decision on each drop exchange?

Stay with handoff until the ball is actually tossed or the path of the runner is distinctly forward of the QB.

Who is going to call that? Does each wing stay in place until the ball is exchanged from now on? They are the only ones in position to see behind or jus in front of the QB.

A forward handoff that is dropped is not an incomplete pass.  That is a fumble.

What Jason said. Rule 2-13-1-c: "Loss of player possession by unsuccessful execution of attempted handing
is a fumble by the last player in possession."
