Hope y'all are staying warm
« on: December 23, 2022, 09:23:12 AM »
Geez. +6 with wind-chill -12 or so here, around 3:00 this morning. (I'm old - had to get up to..well, you know...and checked the thermometer.) Up to +8 as I drove to work. I know it is worse farther north. Just thankful there hasn't been any significant moisture associated with this Arctic blast here.
I truly hope all are safe, healthy, and warm, wherever you are.

In Maine it is pouring rain, wind at 50+ MPH, and temp @ 45+ F . Tonight the temp drops to 20 F and Maine turns into a ice hockey rink. Losing power is probably a given, but with flashlights, blankets and a fireplace, Thomas Edison will be forgotten.

AYUH ,SPECT' WE OTTER STAY SAFE, Y'ALL !  :bOW :!# tiphat:

EPILOGUE TO ABOVE : We lost power from 4 PM to 8 PM. Flashlights allowed us to see, Fireplace allowed us to stay warm. PB & Jelly allowed us to stave off hunger. Upon awake, we found that our drivway & road wasn't an ice rink but completely clear as the wind continued for a couple of hours after the rain and blew them clean.

It made us realize how fortunate we are. We were put on notice several days ago to be ready. Most of us Mainers were as having shelter is having safety. Many of you that live in Tornado Alley or in earthquake prone areas receive no/very little notice of the upcoming danger and our heart and prayers go out to you. May y'all enjoy Christmas Weekend with peace and happiness. Ayuh, 'spect we will :)

Spending the Holiday with family in Victoria, TX.  The local newspaper prints a copy of the 100+ year old "Dear Virginia" response to a Christmas letter from an 8 yr old asking about Santa Clause.  Some things, haven't changed all that much in 100 years, and are worth repeating.

Glad things didn't get too ugly for you. I've had a fetish for Jif Extra Crunchy for a very long time, so I would have survived, too. Be safe.

Back down to 20, with ice and snow in some parts of town (but not others, curiously).

I hate cold weather. 73 degrees in Honolulu, at 9:27 am. Why am I here?

It's a frigid 46 and misting down here on the coast.

If it's 57, at the end of January, regardless of rain or clouds, it's got to be a record setting "early Spring".
