The UIL's Latest Brilliant Move
« on: October 18, 2010, 01:14:34 PM »
i am putting this here instead of State-specific as it is not about the ongoing soap opera in Texas. It is about a much larger issue. This was buried in a story about the new concussion rules.

The committee also said it will consider the use of TV instant replay in state football championship games. It will be a "study item" that will be addressed at a UIL gathering in June, policy director Mark Cousins said. The proposal was made by Westlake coach Darren Allman, whose team lost the Class 5A, Division I championship game, 41-38 to Euless Trinity in overtime. It appeared on TV replay that the game-winning touchdown catch by Trinity receiver Brandon Carter should have been ruled out of bounds, the coach said.

Oh my goodness! Don't we just have tons of money over at the UIL to throw around to willy-nilly request the instant replay machines and the personnel to man them. I reckon after the UIL goes to paying us a $75.00 flat fee inclusive of mileage then they can well pay for those gadgets! After all, they're only doing it for the kids!   z^

As funny as that is, it actually does snow in Hawaii...

Besides I was alluding to the inevitable cry for instant replay in the regular season.

I am already certified for IR duty and brother Tony will slide me in on the next Big Game. Boys we have been on top of this issue for weeks. Have bags packed will travel. I will bet its a palace compared to what we are used to out west here.

As eminently qualified as you are, yet we never see you participate in any of the discussions about the rules and mechanics.  Why are you holding out on us?  Share some of that wisdom with us.

When spoken in "governmental" English, anything ending in, "for the kids" translates to "American" English as, "guard your wallet".
