Got this cae play from a crew member....

Second and 8 on B’s 47. A22 fumbles at B’s 41. A88 is about to recover on B’s 43 when B56 bats the ball backward. The ball hits B78, is muffed by players attempting to recover the ball and rolls out of bounds on B’s 38.

A ball on B 28 1st and 10?

Illegal bat (7-7-2) in any direction.

Basic spot is end of the run (B's 41). B's foul should be enforced from that spot.  15 yd penalty: 1st and 10 for A from B's 26.

How do you figure that the basic spot is the end of the run? Sounds like a loose ball play to me. Basic spot is the previous spot, after enforcement 1/10 for A from the B32.

Snapped at B's 47; then fumbled at B's 41; B fouled...sounds like a running play (beyond the LOS) to me....enforce from end of run.

True, the ball was loose when the foul occurred; but BEYOND The LOS, a running play includes "a run followed by a loose ball...and continues until the ball becomes dead or some player gets possession"!  Rule Book pgs 78 & 79 (definition of running play - item 2)

Yes, I think Curious is correct. Check the Enforcement section, pg 79: "A loose ball may be part of a running play and should not be confused with a loose-ball play."

Which is why there should be a bean bag at the spot where the runner loses possession.
