Test Question help

I was studying for the Fed Test and I can't get my head around one of the questions

The question is: If the penalty is accepted for any foul which occurred before change of possession, the kickoff must be repeated.

I think it is False.

I looked at rule 5-2-4 and Fundamental V - 3.  Both indicate that if the foul involves an award fair catch or does not require the down to be replayed (I think this would include nonplayer or unsportsman like fouls), then a rekick would not be required.

The words "any" and "must " are absolutes meaning there are never exceptions. The way the question is worded I would say the answer is false. Remember that non-player and unsportsmanlike fouls are enforced from the succeeding spot, even though they may take place during a live ball period.

Thanks Rulesman.  I was thinking those would be examples of exceptions that would make the question false.  Thanks for confirming.

But doesn't the Fed test specify that unless stated, a "foul" is live ball, by a player, and not unsportsmanlike, or some such restriction?

It's false if there is no such restriction, but check to see how the instructions define "foul."

I'm Pretty sure it still specifies that all fouls are live ball player fouls unlesws otherwise stated.  However it is the KCI that makes the statement false.  Don't know if there are any other examples but this is the only one I can think of now.

I agree with you and everyone who (logically) thinks the answer to this question is "false"; but with the FED, since when has logic entered into anything? hEaDbAnG

Answer "false" and you STILL  might get it "wrong" by FED standards....

Kind of like taking exams in the securities and insurance industries. There is an art to getting the right answer.  :laugh:

I was thinking the same thing.  So many securities licenses to list.  S7, 24, 4, 53, 63, 65, 27...

Then it winds up being one of the 3-4 questions that gets tossed out when it is pointed out that its right and its wrong too.

Also when a kick goes out of bounds untouched you do not have to re-kick which makes that false also.
