Game Cards
« on: September 05, 2012, 03:15:33 PM »
Does anyone use custom game cards that they print out for each game? I know game cards can be purchased at all of the various officiating stores that we frequent, but I am looking for some templates for game cards that some of you might use that are customizable. I worked on a crew with a guy that made one for every game and I really liked it. Just trying to see what is out there. Thanks.

Game cards as in cards for time outs, change of quarters, captains numbers, etc?  Or game cards to hand to the coaches with the officials' names?  I create unique cards for the latter, but use the standard cards from my chapter for the former.  But, I have to say, I like the reusable cards for times outs, etc.  the paper ones are garbage.

I personally use the reusable plastic card for subvarsity stuff, but I thought it was nice to have a printed out game card for my Varsity games last year. It had the same info as the reusable card, but it had the coaches and team names typed on it as well. Just thought it was kind of neat and did not know if others were doing it.

I would also be interested in the game cards that you talked about. Our chapter does not have one....outside of the TASO equipment verification thing.

I make a nice card for the coaches that I laminate and hand to each coach during my pregame.  Heck, if all else fails, at least the card looks good.  I would gladly share.  I just do it in excel and grab the team helmets from a web site.

You talking to me bug teeth?  Three years working with me and you don't remember my cool cards for coaches?  You must be flying way too high these days.

I order business cards from a free site to hand to coaches. Has a football graphic and the names of my crew. Works well until you have crew replacements. I'm thinking of having some cards printed with fill in the blank lines.

As far as game cards, I've been working on my own for several years. I made some subvarsity ones in Excel and printed them on card stock paper. I had the same card for front and back, and since I usually work 2 SV games at a time, this worked pretty well. The card stock paper was OK, at best. For varsity games, I'm still designing a card I plan to print on waterproof paper and possibly sell. I wanted to do that this offseason, but other things came up. Next year for sure.

I have some in Excel I attached here. You will need to convert to pdf and print. Also, you will need to turn them over and see where each one prints, but it makes a good front and back and the foul report is an insert form. I use heavy cardstock and usually go to fed ex office to cut them.

There are better ways but I use Word to print our crews games cards.  You have to print Page 1, put the paper back in, print page 2 on the same side, page 3 and page 4 on the opposite side.

Dont shoot the messenger but,  handing cards out to coaches before the game is considered solicitation in the Houston Chapter.  I think it is a stupid rule and misses the boat.  I guess it is not a TASO state rule.

I used to have businnes card with each crew member name and position and I would present with stamped return envelope and DVD in pregame.
Of course now we have Hudl and Houston Chapter says NO business cards.
I really think that is inane.
Solicitation is one thing but a BC with crew members on it is an informative and professional.
Of course at the coaches picks I saw assignor passing out "his BC" as a area assignor...and he is a crew member..."let them eat cake..."

Does the Chapter consider a Coach's Card the same as a Business card? I don't see a problem giving Coaches the names of the Officials by position (they have already received that from the Chapter with the equipment statement form). I've used one for 20+ years without any problems. My Crew gives me a hard time because the Coaches get to yell at them by their first name instead of just saying....Hey You...
