"1905 Moment"
« on: August 04, 2013, 11:08:08 AM »
Dr Redding told us yesterday that football was having a "1905 moment" in reference to the crisis in football at that time.  For those who don't know what that means, here are some links to help put things in perspective:

Absolutely.  Several of the legislator have already proven they are ready, willing and able to write laws that deal with school sports.  And while I am thankful the UIL-TASO squabble seems to be ended, using the leg to do it just feeds into the thinking they have a legitimate role in school sports.

Rush has been saying for months how some in the country equate football with the happenings in the roman coliseums.  The concussions, the injuries, the cheap shots, has many watching for ways to get rid of the sport and must of us in the process. We need to be aware that a call we do not make and with cameras out the wazoo, is just adding to the chance it will happen. I think this was some of the UIL deal, they might have been thinking their oversight would help, along with a few bucks. We don't do our jobs and 7 on 7 will be the fall sport.
