In this one, the SJSU punter was the victim of a cheap shot and he's the one who gets thrown out for fighting.  Meanwhile in what's known as the Hate Bowl in my household (Notre Dame vs. Michigan State), #33 from Michigan State (Can't find the video for it yet) throws a punch after a scrum on a punt return, and NOTRE DAME'S bench gets hit for UNS.  :!#

I am gonna give you the benefit of the doubt for awhile longer and accept that MAYBE you are serious about becoming an official.  Therefore I am not going to call you someone who either has a defective sense of hearing or is an ignoramus and just wants to make crap up.  #1 - That was NOT a cheap shot on the punter.  He was close enough to the return man to warrant the block from the returner's teammate.  # 2 - a player is NEVER justified nor excused when he retaliates to what he perceives was a foul.  # 3 - The punter was NOT ejected for fighting.  He was ejected for a " flagrant personal foul", HUGE difference.   and # 4 When a player attacks another during a dead ball period and grabs his helmet trying to either rip it off or pull him to the ground, that IS a flagrant personal foul, hit the showers

And don't forget that real speed on the field is WAY different from 12 instant replays at slow motion with the comments of a tv crew that has no clue.

Well quite honestly, with every workout I'm seeing more and more that I'm physically incompetent for this job. I can't run very far or very fast, and if you can't keep up with the plays, then you won't be officiating very long.

And no, it's probably not for me for more than one reason anyway.

I remind myself of one Linesman that I had the misfortune of working the chain gang behind. The guy didn't even shake my hand when the three of us introduced ourselves to the officials, and one incident really irked me about him.

A cornerback from the home team had said in between plays that the down marker showed 4th down, when it was 1st down after the change of possession. The guy snapped back, "You do your job and we'll worry about ours!"

That was rude, uncalled for, and incredibly unprofessional. And I'm guilty of everything I criticized that guy for and then some.

Even if that weren't the case, I still probably wouldn't be officiating until I'm about 100 pounds lighter and more physically capable of doing the job.

And when you lose the chip on your shoulder,  it is so large you might not be able to find the field.
