So how are coaches, that you've seen, adapting to the POE on staying out of the restricted area?

One thing coaches howl on, understandably, is consistency.  How this plays out, week to week with variances from crew to crew and chapter to chapter, will be interesting.

This is not new..or should not be.  If your Chapter has not been taking care of this then you are behind the curve.  It has been a "POE" since at least 2005.

Chapter has, but much like NCAA it has been lax across the chapter and the state.

There was video posted here last year with a coach smashing headsets and throwing a tantrum in the middle of the field and nothing was flagged.

On almost every training clip that we get from a much larger chapter, there are coaches in the restricted area, without flags raining down, so I suppose they are behind the curve as well.  It definitely isn't 'new' but with the renewed focus by CFO it is on the forefront.

The headset incident was one crew in one chapter. Not only was the lack of response uniformly criticized within that chapter but across the state.   As for coaches in the restricted area, there are still minimal issues with this but nothing like what it was before 2004.  You will never get perfect compliance.   I doubt you heard any TASO clinician making a major issue about further cracking down on the sideline.  What the CFO did was for issues they are having.  And that POE seems to have been countered by the concurrent guidance they are putting out re an official warning before assessing the 5 yard penalty.  Which way do they want it, get serious or not?  As we made clear at the state meeting, we are not complying with that CFO guidance about a requirement for an official warning before a penalty.  If they actually make a rule change taking us back to that then so be it but for now, that does not apply to us.

Having been the chapter that had the major incident a few years back, San Antonio is very strict about a clean sideline.  My wing guys will talk to the coaches once then start flagging.  We have no tolerance for coaches in the restricted area, nor should we.  We do not want another incident like what happened to coach English.
