Now this one just boggles the mind. It shouldn't have even been called a late hit, as his arm grazes the QB's head, much less an actual helmet contact to the head. How in god's name wasn't that one overturned?

Didn't see the play but if it was targeting a defenseless player there doesn't need to be any helmet contact. Any forcible contact above the shoulders on a defenseless player is targeting.

And targeting does not need a helmet-to-helmet contact, it only requires (forcible) contact by any body part. Hitting with the crown of the helmet is a separate rule.
