Tackled the running back on a screen pass.
« on: September 29, 2014, 07:46:39 AM »
Team A drops back to pass and sets up a screen pass to the fullback.   As the ball is in the air Team B's defensive end tackles the fullback to the ground.   What do you have?

D-holding -previous spot enforcement unless fullback was pretending to be the runner.

Assuming "tackling" is not a legal block and the ball has not passed the LOS.

Had this very flag a few years back.  B's coach couldn't understand that the fact that the A receiver was behind the line didn't give his player license to tackle.

This may have been legal back then if the QB was outside the tackle box and the FB was inside the 5 yard chuck zone, unless the pass was uncatchable.   nAnA

Had a play last year where the db tackled the back and the qb got sacked. Coach couldn't understand why we didn't go back to previous spot. "Coach, it wasn't a loose ball play". Yes it was! We called a pass play in the huddle. "Yes, but he never actually threw the ball!!

"But we called a screen pass, how could our lineman be downfield illegally?"

"He's our tight end, how can it be illegal touching?"

Had a play years ago. Middle screen off play action. Unfortunately or insanely depending on your perspective QB fakes to the intended receiver who then gets tackled. As usual coach can't understand why that wasn't a foul.

Things to remember on an attempted  screen pass :

      (1) pass interference can't happen behind LOS;
      (2) holding & illegal use of hands can.
      (3) pass touched by B behind and goes over LOS, can't create illegal receivers;
      (4) pass touched by A behind and goes over LOS can.
      (5) ineligible A can't bat pass down behind the LOS unless first touched by B....

Things to remember when Patriots are on Monday Night Football :

      (1) Walk dawg early;
      (2) take pre-game nap;
      (3) eat hearty meal (to coat one's gizzard);
      (4) drink plenty of fluids ;) (need to stay hiderated) ;);
      (5) wear ratty ole' Red Sox cap backwards (good luck charm). FlAg1 FlAg1 aWaRd aWaRd aWaRd FlAg1

 aWaRd aWaRd aWaRd = this century's Super Bowl victories nAnA!!!!

Had a similar play; but the receiver was carrying out a running fake and got tackled...No foul called - but coach didn't think pretending to be a runner mattered.

Might as well.  Like my Braves hat, you won't need it for the baseball anymore.

The Big O is exactly 1 hour 15 minuet drive from my house, wish the Expos were still there.  You good a great seat tipping the attendant a few looneys.

There were always plenty of seats available.  That place was a mausoleum!

That's an insult to mausoleums!
