Aren't both the game clock and play clock operators also included in the communications system?  It was never clear what was being discussed, but I'd agree that there was discussion with someone not on the field.  I was thinking that they were trying to get the game clock adjusted?

On one of the post game shows there was a genius explaining how in his opinion there was no IW, but rather Ole Miss had given up on the play so they had to do something, so they therefore just made up a story about the IW since they didn't know what to do.  Brilliant.

What led you to think that there was a conversation taking place with someone who was not on the field?

The crew was all together and it appeared that the R was talking to someone else from the look of things.  Knowing only what I've read regarding the crew being "miked" and unable to talk to anyone outside the crew, I was assuming that he was talking to the clock guys up in the booth discussing a timing issue?

That's the part I'm not getting, if the crew is all together talking what about that would make it look like the whitehat was talking to someone else? I'm not trying to be a JERK, bit I just don't get what would cause it to appear that way.

I can certainly see why there is room for speculation.  Appears the 3 of them are standing there either listening to someone or waiting for someone to possibly look at some video and help them out.  It was a simple penalty enforcement. If it was dead ball then would be from end of kick. If it was live ball it would be from end of kick or B could elect to enforce at prev spot and have rekick.   Perhaps they wanted to know if the offender should be DQ'd also so wanted another look.  Or perhaps they wanted to know if there was someone from the other team who may have gotten away with starting something so they wanted to get him also.  (This conference was before any announcement or even any preliminary signal best as I can tell).  I don't understand what all the hoopla is about.  We all know we are headed this way anyway.  We have the technology to help in more ways than what the IR rules currently permit so not a stretch to think that help will be permissible in the not too distant future.

Periera needs to do some basic reporting here. He says he called Redding, but he needs to call the SEC office for a response. If he doesn't believe them, fine, but he needs to give them the opportunity to explain.

SEC could just explain why a simple PF penalty took almost two minutes to discuss on the field. I don't see anything anomalous on the video, looks to me they are simply discussing something, possibly what TXMike said.

Amen! All he has to do is pick up the phone and call Steve Shaw. Let's not let the truth get in the way of a story. But what else does one expect from FOX?

I hope the SEC has learned lessons that too many in government and industry learned the hard way....the longer you let something like this fester the more difficult it becomes to close the wound.  And another lesson.....cover ups that fail end up being worse than just dealing with the wart quickly and openly.  Not saying they have any reason to cover up, just saying "those who refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it"

The conference has already issued a statement saying Periera is wrong. Not sure what else is expected.

Seriously !?!?!!!  You are seeing this video as 3 guys chatting for 2 and a half minutes about enforcement of a dead ball PF?  Like I said , i don't think many folks would give a flip if they just said the RO or communicator was giving the R some info , be it number, live ball/dead ball or whatever , but to just say he is wrong don't get it.  Unless all they are really saying is he is wrong to publicly disparage them.  Maybe they are not saying he is wrong about what he thinks he saw
