I worked a couple years of B.

In pre game I met with all the return guys and we briefly discussed Fair Catch signals. What was going to be considered good and not good.  If it was sunny how they could or could not shield their eyes from the sun.  If a signal was given then they can not block.  If possible try to include the special teams coach.

This was a good time to do some preventive officiating and also educate players and coaches on rules.

Talk to ball personnel.

Check your play clocks, talk to play clock operator.

I work D-III but i assume if games you work are on TV then get with the on filed Timeout guy.

I've attached an early version of an old pre-game for the 3 down field positions.  It was prepared by 3 NFL deep officials for a pre-season clinic for NCAA officials, so it may have some philosophical differences with your conference.  It was prepared in 2011 (I think), so it will be out of date, but it's a starting point.
