The problem with that, Bossman, is that this was the only trip for the White Sox to Baltimore, and they were trying to avoid a "fly in, play a doubleheader, and fly out" situation. That said, as a Cubs fan, anything that makes the Sox's life more difficult is fine in my book, so I'm all in favor of scheduling a future doubleheader on an offday.
Succumbing to threats and intimidation sets a really bad precedence. There were a lot of unknown "Public Safety" concerns following 911, but the Yankee game was played and our President came and threw out the 1st ball. Sometimes risk is worth taking (if you've got the resolve to back it up).
I believe reading that some of the umpiring "crew" during pre-game were Secret Service Agents in disguise for that game & we had to excuse President Bush's pitch, as you lose something off your fastball when wearing a bulletproof vest. I cheered for the Yankees for about a week after and wore a Yankee red, white & blue cap. I would still cheer for the Yankees if they were playing Iran ,North Korea or a team from another planet.
Rumor has it that part of this impending nuclear deal, will place Iran in the AL Eastern Division.
Further feeling is that Iran would probably place middle of the pack in the AL Least.
