Play Situation
« on: August 30, 2015, 08:56:41 AM »
Five man crew. Prior to the snap a team A substitute (with a lineman number) comes onto the field and makes it inside the numbers at the time of the snap. He is lumbering forward as the ball is snapped.  He is the 11th player but the R and U (who count O) don't see him. The L notices him just prior to the snap but since he doesn't count O he doesn't know if the sub is #11 or 12.  (If he knew the sub was number 11 I believe this would be a FST).

I think the spirit of the rule is that even if the incoming sub is #12, this should be a FST. Note the language saying that "the offensive team" must come to a full stop for a second, not "all team A players".

Agreed. I would believe we have false start as Team A was not set before the snap. The player was not in motion from a designed play.  ^flag

FST....  Don't make it harder than it is on that type of play, shut it down, penalize, and go on down the road.
