Punt change of possession play
« on: September 07, 2015, 04:22:33 PM »
K's ball 4th and 10 at midfield. K's punt crosses the NZ, is muffed by R59 at the R-45 yard line and bounces back to the K-40 yard line. The ball is picked up by the punter K20 at the K-40 yard line who runs across the NZ to the R-47 yard line and throws an incomplete forward pass?

1st and 10 for K at K45. Don't forget to enforce the Illegal forward pass.

If he threw the incomplete pass from behind the neutral zone it would be 1st and 10 for K at the previous spot.

Pass was thrown 3 yards beyond the NZ.  What about the loss of down on the penalty?

Doesn't apply.  See rule 5-1-3f.

Whoops...just recognized that the ball was thrown past the line of scrimmage.   Move it back and k's ball

Why does everyone forget the 15 yard penalty you're going to have to throw on the R coach when you tell him that K threw an incomplete pass on 4th down and gets to keep the ball and have a first down on top of it?   ;D pHiNzuP :sTiR:
