Video on the sideline

Can the teams now have video and or photos in the team box for the coaches and or nonplayers to watch and look at during the game and or halftime? I would have said no when someone asked me the other day but I see nothing that restricts it anymore in the book.

Legal as long as they don't use it to communicate with players between the 9 yard marks.

It's amazing what some teams will spend on sideline video equipment. I'd venture to say they could probably afford a reasonable raise in our fees.

The first season of the rule change, I saw several teams shooting from the sideline with an iPad.  It died out as quickly as it came.

We played one team last year that had a 70" hi-def TV, and would show film to players during offense/defense (they were a true two platoon team), theater style.

We shoot formations on an iPad in the press box.  We have the ability to send them to a iPad on the sideline for the QBs to see, but we typically don't.  But the OC will review them in the press box while we are on defense, claims they are very valuable to him making adjustments.

HUDL is working on a new app that will allow the film you are shooting during the game to be sent to your iPad or phone in real time, with replay features.  It's in beta test now.  If it comes out next season, expect to see a lot more iPads on the sidelines.

"CAN'T FIGHT 'EM, THEN JOIN 'EM"....In this now and hi-tech evolving world of ours, it was felt the only restriction to apply was to prevent direct headset to helmet communication or if a coach comes to the huddle between the nines with one of those spiffy new communication gizmo's - IMHO, that would be involving more than one coach if used.

For the first time last week I saw a team with a large TV (I'd assume 50" or so) that appeared to be hooked up to a Hudl feed. When I walked out at halftime I could see that they were able to load up plays from throughout the first half.
