Foul on final play of Michigan/MSU

I only saw the original TV view. But it sure as heck looked like textbook RTS.  Anyone else see it that way?

I had a hold on MSU player near the 5 yard line. I will not comment further on the game though  :'(

He looks like he was in the gap and got blocked into the snapper by the left guard.  That's my take anyway.

Agreed. Both were in the gap and the left guard blocked one of them into the snapper.

Thanks for the video. That's a crazy way to drop a game.

Are you saying that as an official or a fan? Did you see a hold with your eyes? Or with your heart? :)

Both as an official and a student. The former coach in me is more upset at the stupid mistake you could have made at the worst possible time.

Yep. Michigan fan.

Not lifelong though. Personally I'm just glad my Roughriders have won the Grey Cup within my lifetime. I was born in Saskatoon and when I was 11, we moved to California, and I'm now a junior at UM. Officiating sure is a much better college job than working in the bookstore. :p

Been up to Sask many times. So, now not only are you a Michigan Fan but an alien too?😋😆 LOL

Kidding of course. I had all of Canada as a Regional Sales Manager.

Looks "indictable"; but highly unlikely to be called on the final play of the game.  I'm more concerned about the decisions made by the replay official during this game.  There were numerous reviews which, in my mind (as an official - not a fan of either team in this game) should not have been overturned - they were JUST TOO CLOSE.  IMHO, the Big 10 should look hard at this RO's judgemental abilities.

Finally, someone explain to me 1) how the H (in front of the MSU bench) could overrule the U from 30 yds away on a catch over the middle that the U, five yards away, was looking right at; and 2)  it seems to me that the R should have gone with the catch - then to the replay official - rather than no catch/replay.  I don't see how there could have been enough "indisputable video evidence" to overturn the call either way.

What...nobody else has an opinion? Are we so "gentile and/or fragile" that criticism is verboten?>

We don't have any video...

But as far as catch/no-catch, hear is a philosophy I've often heard:

Ruling catch is a democracy, ruling incomplete is a dictatorship. Meaning, everyone needs to agree to rule catch. If even one person says incomplete, it's incomplete.

A couple of thoughts for Curious.
1. That replay official will be just fine. He worked the Conference Championship game last year which signifies that he has been judged to be the best RO that season. He had a number of tough decisions in this game.
2. Closer doesn't mean better especially when it comes to catch/no catch. The angle is nearly everything to see the skip of the ball. This one is tight. If the U felt that it was clearly a catch the he and the H need to sort that out before the decision goes to the R. The R merely takes what info he is given to the mic. For the record that H is pretty good too.
