I think they got it right, but I wonder who else could have seen the tip? If they did, why did they not say anything until after the conversation with the visiting coach? Did they not realize the tip could negate the roughing foul?
Here's something to professionalism and appearance. I don't know this crew at all, but here are some observations that make me feel they got it right:
There was good hustle by the crew, especially R on his way to discuss with the home coach
Good clarity of the signals by the referee
The referee had another official with him when he talked to the coaches
The officials worked to get extra personnel off the field (although the discussions could have taken place closer to the sideline)
If you do the little things, I'm much more likely to believe what you are telling me.
