UT vs. Baylor Bench Clearing Melee

Did anyone else think it odd in the Baylor-UT game that the entire Baylor team ended up on the UT sideline due to a scuffle, and there were NO ejections? It was one of the Big 12's best crews working the contest, but . . .

I don't think there was much of a melee as the press is calling it. I don't think any punches were even thrown so no leaving the bench to participate in a fight. Thought it was handled appropriately.

If it makes RR's videos, we will know for sure. Although actually, if it does NOT make the video, I think that will be telling also.

I don't think a crew would be around very long if they started DQing the players leaving the bench.

The only penalty as I recall was an unsportsmanlike on 1 UT player.  There were several helmets thrown down on the field.  That should have been worth something but perhaps the crew was more focused on trying to restore order and keep track of anyone who actually engaged in physical altercations so did not notice

If the benches cleared and you ejected everybody that left the bench, you no longer have a game. I'd say that the correct thing to do in a situation like that is what they did in the Clemson/SC game circa 2004 where they called in the law enforcement that was on hand to quell the brawl, call offsetting personal fouls, and play the last few minutes of the game.

If they actually were brawling then ejections wood have been warranted and game might not have been possible .  Too bad.  There have been games where far more ejections should have taken place.  I would also think this would be a great place to use IR. Let it find the real offenders
