1 inch stripe shirts
« on: December 14, 2015, 12:47:11 PM »
Does anybody still use and want a one inch stripe shirt?
I have 3 long sleeves (2 L & 1 M) and 2 short sleeves (Both L).
Our state went to a special shirt.

Thanks

I've got an XL or two around, as well.

Sounds like every hs official in Texas these days.
I've basically just given the old 1" shirts to my nieces and nephews as halloween costumes.  About all they are good for now.

We are supposed to be fully switched to the 2" stripe next August.  I will probably donate mine to my son's HS spirit club.

Ohio switched to 2 1/4" stripes (I guess to be different) last year as optional, next year as mandatory. I think Indiana and Kentucky still use the 1" stripes. I may leave a care box of old shirts at the state line.
Now what do I do with my knickers...?

PA still uses 1" stripes... Unfortunately those aren't my size!

I use my knickers, 1" stripes and Netherland socks for a Halloween costume. Saves me having to think about what to wear and it is easy.

One idea- if you have a college intramural program or a military base with a MWR program, give them a CARE package.

Or send a care package to your UK cousins who are still using 1" stripes :)

That reminds me, many years ago (1983/84) when football first stated to be played in the UK (at club level - the US bases had a league before that) I was playing for the Team in Northampton (UK) and one of the Northampton (US) schools/colleges donated their old kit to us so we could have some kit to play with.

Very thankful for that we went on to play our first competitive match (and the first game ever for the newly formed American Football League (UK)) in April '84 with that kit and shirts borrowed from one of the other UK teams.

Happy memories.

Thanks VALJ; as I said to HLinNC in PM I was half joking and there will be many causes closer to home more deserving I'm sure.

However if they don't want them, then I am happy to act as a UK depot to help new officials get off the ground or if preferred to coordinate 2nd hand sales.

Maybe $ to cover shipping.  Any idea of the cost for box with say 8 shirts and 5 knickers, plus socks.
