Extra Period Enforcement
« on: June 13, 2016, 07:26:21 PM »
Bottom of the 1st extra period,  score is still tied.  Team B blocks a PAT attempt and is running for an apparent TD.  Team B  coaches  and players subs run from the team area towards the goal line but off the field of play as the ball is returned for apparent score.  Officials flag them for this Unsportsmanlike Conduct.   RULING?

Assuming the team B coaches and playerssubstitutes do not interfere with the play: game over, team B wins by two points. Any potential penalty enforcement is as a dead-ball foul.

If they interfere, I'd call it a live-ball USC foul. The score is cancelled and the 15-yard penalty is enforced from the succeeding spot.

I think you can only call this back if it's a UNS by players.  Non-player UNS fouls are enforced as dead ball fouls.

  • Without officials... it is only recess.

How can players interfere? I guess the correct terminology had been "substitutes".

Thanks for catching the mistake. Fixed my answer.

I'm invoking rule 9-2-3-c as instructed in 4-2-1-II, just calling the foul a USC to have it count against the 2-USC limit.
