JV Game Goofiness

If something goofy is going to happen, it's gonna happen in a JV game.

Team B intercepts a pass at his own two.  Returner on his own (not momentum) retreats into the end zone while trying to advance the ball.  Realizing he can't get out, he illegally passes the ball forward to a teammate who makes it back to the two.  Wings have flags down for illegal forward pass.  Foul occurred in the end zone so we have a safety.  Correct?

Would it have been any different if the Team B player intercepted in the end zone and never came out but still committed the illegal forward pass in the end zone?  Still a safety?

Yes. IFP is always enforced from the spot of the foul, so any IFP from the end zone is a safety.

Does this hold true for NFHS and NCAA rules?... This forum is Texas topics.

No clue for NFHS. NCAA, which Texas plays by, this is always true.

Yes. IFP is always enforced from the spot of the foul, so any IFP from the end zone is a safety.

As a side note if an IFP by Team A is incomplete and the penalty is declined, the ball is returned to the previous spot. 7-3-7-c Exception.

This is a difference from Fed where an incomplete IFP from Team A's endzone is a safety even if the penalty is declined.

In the case of Team B throwing an IFP, it would be a safety either way.
