Will he still be the supervisor of the SEC and SunBelt?  Or will he have to step down from those positions like Redding did?

I would imagine he will have to step down as SEC/Sun Belt supervisor.

It will be interesting to see who they hire.

RR is out SS is in...Clearly the next person to take the position in 2021 has to be a TT.

Is Redding just retiring, or was he asked to step aside?

Sec/Rules Editor is not a lifetime position. RR's 4 year term ends in August.

Hmm, I'm not sure he'll be done with his newfound baseball career by then, but you never know!

I know of a guy in Texas who was once in charge of officials that may be available.  pi1eOn

But then we'd have to have UU and that might be a tall order.

Fair enough. I would kind of expect that the current holder would be reappointed, though, unless there was a problem or he didn't want it anymore.

According a bio I read, he was National Coordinator for CCA football officiating 1996-2010. As some point the NCAA combined the secretary rules editor and Coordinator of football officials and Redding is that guy. Not sure if Shaw will be also.

It's my understanding NCAA by-laws limit the term. (Too bad political offices don't carry term limits). It is also my understanding RR will remain as National Coordinator for now. I remember reading an article (I believe in the Birmingham paper) that quoted SS as saying the SEC job was his dream job. That said, my money says he isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

They better sharpen up their act.so far IMO, the gang of three in Birmingham are a failure.

1. Auburn vs. LSU. 10 seconds left clock running. LSU flagged for illegal shift. Should have been a false start and a 10 second runoff. Play reviewed. Clock set at .01. Should have been game over.

2. Alabama vs. Ole Miss. Alabama tackler leads with the crown of the helmet of a kickoff return. Targeting over ruled based on the return man not being a defenseless player.

Yet, FSU loses a player against Clemson for the exact same act.

I'm hoping that with a new administration that we'll have a little more sanity on this issue, like a two-tiered targeting rule that the AAC coordinator has been pushing for since 2010. The current one is like a lemon car, you fix the transmission and the engine dies, you fix that and the brakes quit. At what point do you start over? Now would be a good time.

Sounds to me like your analogy is a perfect match to the NCAA rule book.
