There is one game that two chapters are claiming.  Could be interesting Friday night with 14 officials.   ;D

They can do like the old all star games. Each crew work a half.  LOL

Am I reading this correctly?  Does San Angelo have 3 playoff games prior to this round and then have Allen vs Woodlands semi final game?  I dont know a soul in San Angelo.  They probably have "some great officials and greater men".  It just looks really weird for them to have that resume then get that game.  They also have a 2A semi final.  Which is fine whatever.  But the 6A Division 1 final?  Every time I think I have coaches figured out they pull something like this.

Good for San Angelo.  It's well overdue the smaller chapters get their opportunity.  Their top 10% is as good as any other top 10% across the state so I'm confident they have 12 officials who will represent the semi-final round well.

Most of the bigger chapters have several FCS and FBS officials still working, but I'm sure San Angelo has several officials of that caliber too.

Hmmm...I would hope that officials that work mostly D1 college games are not necessarily the first picks to work the high school playoff games...especially in larger chapters.  I would hope most larger chapters allow the officials that commit to being the best high school officials they can be and work mostly high school games are the ones getting the playoff assignments.  If not, how disheartening for deserving officials.

Well, as we all know those all mighty FBS officials never make game changing mistakes! If only "big" chapters are capable of calling state level games, then why does the UIL let "small" chapters have shots at Championship games in every other sport played in Texas? Oh, wait, coaches in other sports don't get a say in who gets to work championship series. Much the same in many other states.

San Angelo or any chapter across the state is just as capable to work a Semi as any Houston crew working this week

I never said anything about small chapters not capable of working a semi or any game for that matter, but stating that the San Angelo top 10% is as good as the top 10% in any chapter is absolutely absurd.

Houston has 1000 officials, does San Angelo even have 100? #seriousquestion Houston's top 10% is bigger than their whole chapter LOL

HoustonRef, you just showed you do not understand the concept of percentages. Houston's worst 10% of officials are also just as bad as any other chapters worst 10% of officials. So according to your concept Houston also has the worst officials in the state and your total number of bad officials is more than the smaller chapters total.

Just about every chapter has active FCS and FBS officials.

Oldandold, your comment is spot on.

???
Houston absolutely has the greatest number of terrible officials, but we also have the best. Unfortunately the best officials in the state prolly won't be working these last two weeks.

I heard that coaches will pick officials for the state basketball tourney starting this season.  Any basketball guys here that can confirm that?

That doesn't make a lick of difference if the coaches request a particular crew.

Hey who knows, maybe a Houston crew will finally work a six man or TAPPS state championship!

Fort Worth and Abilene have the six man big games.
