Fort Worth and Abilene have the six man big games.
Amarillo has the Division 1 Six-Man between Borden County vs Jonesboro

You are correct.  Amarillo, not Abilene has one.  Fort Worth has the other.

That doesn't make a lick of difference if the coaches request a particular crew.

Yep, fully understand the request process.  I guess if there are regular D1 college officials that do not work much high school during the season, I would hope that those officials would "allow" the regular deserving high school officials first dibs on the playoff games.  Simple way to do that is indicate not available. I would think the larger chapters would be able to go deeper into their pool with non-college officials with little to no drop off.  Just because working full college schedule does not mean the best fit for high school.  Seen plenty of very good college officials not do terribly well in high school games.

I love the negative mindset on here.  My comments were in reference to how stupid coaches are and how bad the system is where we have chapters that don't get rd 1/2/3/4 rd games but get (2)5 rd Games.  It makes no sense that woodlands and Allen think they are worthy and no one else.  This is data that the system is wrong.

Coby, here's all I took from your response. If a coach picks you for any game that coach is dumb as hell.

I feel like you have the negative mindset calling coaches stupid.  If the coaches are given the power to pick any official who they please who's really stupid?  Coaches have their reasons for picking crews and they should be able to pick who they want without being criticized.  San Angelo getting semi love is a great thing wish more chapters of that size got the recognition they deserve.

May or may not have been a coaches pick, could have been UIL assigned.

It was a coaches pick, both agreed and not a UIL assignment.

SAN Angelos top 2 or 3 crews is as good as any chapter . Would you have an issue with that?

Is this the year that it was determined that no crew or officials can no longer work more than one state championship game?

Absolutely Not!  I would like to think that it is a statistical anomaly.  It is just weird that they did not get any more games in earlier rounds.  The system is broken if a chapter has crews good enough for 2 semi and now a state championship and before that only 3 playoff games to the entire chapter.  Like I said in the original post.  I dont know a soul in San Angelo.

Now I do have an issue with how you quantify the above statement.  That would be like me saying, " The top 9 crews in the Rio Grande Valley chapter are 9 out of 10 of the best crews in the state".  So unless you want to back up that statement with a detailed methodology then it will not hold any weight.

Now if you said the top 10% of every chapter is as good as any other crew in the state that would be more acceptable, because I can apply what I do know about 3 chapters sample size across the whole state.

Yes it is!  A policy established by TASO.

Ok thanks.  I actually kind of like that policy.  But, I can see it from different views.  Requests are requests.

I think when those people especially newer officials that only know their chapter have no clue just how large that Houston Chapter is and how many crews it has.

Can we all be happy for the officials that have been chosen or assigned to do the Championship games.  We need to support each other and want nothing but the best for all officials regardless of what chapter they are from.  Last I checked no one comes to the games to see the officials.

The only difference in the games this weekend and the ones week 0 is the fact that each team is playing is playing for a trophy, and playing is the best facility.  At the end of the day it is still football and still a game.

Good luck to all.

Well now, couldn't have been any better said.  Well done.  Sometimes we forget why we are here and this puts it back into perspective.

So far from Thursday's games the San Angelo crew was the most consistent and performed very well.

The 5A D2 crew struggled real hard. There were at least 4 IC a couple NC and some MC. Overall a really poor performance. Highland Park and Temple truly lucked out TASO only allows a crew to work one championship.
