40 after TD

No exception for it, but a team B TD makes the 40 a little tougher. Thoughts?

Can always pump up.  Just do your natural routine.  If it takes too long, pump it up

Talked to 2 crews who had this happen this weekend and neither had issues. 40 seconds is a long time. If the teams aren't ready and the ball isn't set until 22 seconds I wouldn't worry about pumping it back up. You aren't affecting them if they aren't ready anyway.

We had 9 TDs in our game and in all instances the offense was set and ready to snap it at about 20 seconds. Some waited until 5-8 but most snapped before 10. 40 seconds is plenty of time.

That's my observation, as well.  And, I believe it will only get better, as teams across the country get used to the process.

This has been the thought process of just about every crew/assigner I've talked with this year.  We've had no issues with it, but, if we do, you can be assured either I'll pump it up or the Referee I'm working with will pump it up.  Reasoning is, we don't want any "cheap" delay of game fouls if possible for ANY of the teams.

Too bad the rule makers didn't follow suit and start the 40 after a punt return.  Tonight during a JV game the clock operator was starting the 40 after a punt return and we had the ball spotted but of course we had to pump it to 25 and then start it as normal.  They did it a couple of times after interceptions as well.  In both cases we were ready and the teams were ready.

I'd be curious if we ever see a 40 after a punt, because that interval is used so frequently for media TOs.

I dont see a problem with that Jason since we have guys awarding the 25 yard line on punt FCs at the 5  ;-)
