  • The rules are there if you need them.
Knee pads, jerseys, play clock
« on: September 03, 2018, 10:12:46 AM »
Had no major uniform issues last weekend.  All teams I saw had pants covering knees and knee pads.  (In fact, they all had pants with interior pockets for knee pads.). A couple of players needed a few reminders to pull their jerseys down to cover their undershirts.  But, no big deal.
No issues with Tries.  All teams got their special teams out there and ran their plays (field goal attempts and 2-point TD Tries) within 40 seconds.
I had one team exceed the play clock after a kickoff.  They had a personnel problem, and were out of TOs and just took the DOG penalty.

So, one week down, and no big issues.

Hope it went well for y’all, too.

We had one team get two DOG's after KO, they just wanted to huddle on the sideline and didn't get out on the field until play clock was at 10 or less. They just got to learn.

We had to spend 1st quarter getting several player to tuck in their undershirts, just lots of talking and they were good.  Opening KO had a fair catch.  On interception return for TD had a delay of game for try, not really unexpected.   Knees all looked good, coaches said in pregame that been after them all week about it.

On another game our chapter had there was a KO fair catch signal from a player and his teammate caught the ball at the 15yl.  Naturally they wanted it at the 25.

Both HC's in my game Friday night said they fully support the knee pad thing and they said it was about time.  But, one team had two players who were non-compliant.  When I spoke to the coach in pregame, he said, yeah, would you tell those kids because they won't listen to me and they keep rolling up their pants.  What???  You're the coach!  They do what you ask them to do or they don't play.  Don't place it on the officials.

Friday was a bit of a circus. One of the teams knew nothing about the rule changes with the play clock. Knees stayed covered for the most part. We only had to send one off.

That was the good 'ole days when the coaches were in charge.  We had a head coach call once and asked if the crew would be offended if he requested that they flag his assistant coach for UNS the first time he opened up his mouth.   :!#   I was like,
"you hired him".  If he's that bad demote him to full time trash collector during games.
