"Gov. Greg Abbott announces stay home order to expire Thursday, some businesses to reopen Friday"

Let's hope this good news can hold out until HS football season starts.

Just a small cause for optimism, but we still need to be very careful out there  ^good

First, it's good to see places open and people getting no with their lives. (as long as this wont re-spike IMO)
However, my sister in Grapevine reported to me that she was out at a restaurant (with her law enforcement husband) and the place was about 25% when she arrived.
Soon after, the place was shoulder-to-shoulder inside,  beer drinking and kids running all over the place.
Hopefully, the restaurants who are in dire need to re-open will self-monitor their rules and people will be responsible too and we wont revert to "here we go again".

  • The rules are there if you need them.

Most people of medicine and science don't expect a widespread spike until next winter, once restrictions have virtually disappeared (or ignored), and people move back indoors.  But it WILL happen.  It is just a matter of how prepared our culture will be to test and treat.  Hopefully, we will have learned lessons, and will have taken steps to keep the "spike" relatively flat and short in duration. 'Til then, keep washing your hands, get out and enjoy the sun and its life-saving UV rays (in moderation, of course), and don't kiss any strangers.
