Sad news out of the Houston Chapter
« on: August 06, 2020, 09:43:44 AM »
I sadly learned yesterday that Keith Kimmel passed suddenly. Keith was 40 year SFOA/TASO member and long time Referee/Crew Chief along with his late brother Roy. He was known throughout the state to fellow officials, Coaches and AD's and was highly respected as an official but especially as compassionate man with high morals and integrity.

I personally knew Keith for 30 years and he was selfless in helping me in finding my officiating way in my early years. As our organization ages, we are seeing the loss of great officials who laid the groundwork for all of us.

Thanks for all you've done and all you've helped, Keith. RIP, my friend.

  • Without officials... it is only recess.

It was a total shock when Beau Miller told me of Keith Kimmels passing since I have stayed in touch with him for over 45 years. Roy & Beau were on my crew until I moved in 1986 and Keith as a rookie worked chains with us as often as Bob Connell could assign him. Keith was a wonderful friend, a great person and a very good official. I talked with his son Jeff  that very day and we had a good conversation of old war stories. His smile and his great personality will be missed by all. Bill Hendley
