It will happen

It is difficult making assignments right now, with some schools shifting their schedules to have their 'open' date at the beginning of the season, but our crew has our first 5 assignments, starting 8/29 (scrimmage 8/21). I think it will take something pretty drastic and dramatic to keep it from happening.
As I suggested, Texas may be the only place in the world to see live football action in September.
We'll be just fine.

There are some schools opening for in-person classes today. Football teams are practicing. One superintendent told me that the delay of 5A/6A actually helped them fill their schedule. My crew's scrimmage is 8/21, and first game is 8/29, just 18 days away.
Keepin' the faith. :)

It has helped our chapter too.  By not having 4 teams to worry about till another month has solved our issue with shortages of officials.  Then when we do have extra officials every one of our 11 man schools have been told to not be surprised when they see a 7 man crew because we have to keep officials working in order to keep them engaged.  These guys don't want to be sitting at home doing nothing so we will find a spot for them.
