Week 6 - all is well
« on: October 03, 2020, 10:17:46 AM »
Week six down. Had great weather, a very ‘peaceful’ game (hardly any complaints from either sideline). Good crowd.
Everybody’s healthy.
Headin’ to playoffs. Still gettin’ it done.

  • Without officials... it is only recess.

We had a 4A varsity team with 13 players.  Surprisingly closer game than expected for that number.

13 players on the entire roster for both teams?

If that is the case, that sure makes it an eye opener.

Must have had quite a few players pulling double duty so to speak.

We have a team who has quarantined their band and the varsity squad.  They haven't shut down.  Instead they will continue playing the varsity schedule with their JV squad.  I asked the coach if he would keep his varsity team in quarantine if his JV team plays better football these next 2 weeks.  He didn't expect that would happen but did admit we'd find out how good or not so good of a coach he is.  Overcome and adapt is the theme of this year.

A Lubbock school is playing an Odessa team that is playing its first game of the season, after having 40 of its players quarantined for the requisite time. But they fought through it, and are now back on the gridiron, as we speak.
Gettin' it done.

I will welcome 2 cancellations next week.  We are maxed out on officials next Friday and will likely be down a man on 2 games.
