MICHIGAN BACK ON LOCKDOWN
« on: November 16, 2020, 01:05:46 PM »
By Governor's executive order, in-class education - and all athletic activity - have been suspended "for at least 3 weeks".  pi1eOn

IF we ever resume, snow shoes will be provided... tiphat:

My fear is NC will soon follow suit.  Our governor was re-elected last week,  >:( , so he will be totally fearless now.

We just got VB and CC up and running this past weekend.  VB players are required to wear masks and there is a 25 person limit for spectators.

Also, does this lockdown have different enforcement under NCAA rules?

It’s not the NCAA rules themselves, but I think what you are asking is whether the order applies to colleges as well?

It does not apply to major college or pro teams.  Although they can not have any spectators.  They had been allowing something like 2 spectators per participant.

No organized sports other than the D1 colleges and the pros.  No group exercise classes, but commercial gyms can stay open for individual workouts.  No in person classes for colleges and high schools.  No indoor dining.

This is for 3 weeks and then they’ll see where they’re at.

The state association suspended all competitions and practices.  Coaches can only have virtual contact with their teams.

Football, volleyball, and girls swimming & diving were almost done.   Volleyball and swimming have their finals still to go.  Football had 3 more weeks of playoffs left.

The State says they hope to squeeze all of those in yet this calendar year.  That may be wishful thinking, but that’s what they hope.

And then they’ll figure out Winter sports schedules once they can start practicing again.  Most had already started practice.

I'm non-sarcastically suggesting that topics such as these need another page. I for one am trying to fast from Covid topics. I would much rather read about High School rule interpretations and be able to choose to do that without this.

It was not an executive order our Governor but a directive issued by the state health department. The MHSAA has already issued a statement that they plan to finish fall sports tournaments that are in progress. I don't know how it's going to affect the start of the winter sports.

There is another section for non-officiating topics.  Unfortunately, no one uses it.

You could do like Twitter, FB, and Google, and just censor this stuff.   ;D
