Here we are in week 7 already! Almost no bumps in the road. Very few COVID issues (as compared to last year). None of which I am aware out here in these parts. Stands are packed. No masks to be found anywhere. Players are playing their best. Coaches are...well, coaches (as they've always been). Officials are getting the job done.
In the heart of district play, and headin' toward playoffs. Just like 2019.
So glad I live in Texas. As much I love being in Hawaii when I am there, I would much rather live - and officiate - in Texas.
I will say, though, that I worked a game a few weeks ago - in Texas - between a high level Texas program and a good New Mexico program, and both were exceptionally well disciplined. Sidelines were clear -end-line to end-line - virtually all game long. Players were ferocious, but respectful and sportsmanlike. Makes it all worthwhile.
