Parts of Texas (officiating and living)

To continue a discussion on "West" Texas.   How do you see the state from an officiating standpoint and living here?

Living:
As a born and breed Ft. Worth native:
     Central Texas is I35 from Denton to Round Rock and Weatherford to Arlington.  Dallas has no standing.
     East Texas is anything east of Dallas.
     West Texas is anything south of I20 and West of Central Texas.
     Armpit of Texas (Costal area) Anything within 100 miles of Houston.
     Panhandle/Plain is anything north of I20 to OK.
     South Texas is from Austin to Laredo

Officiating: 
"West" Texas is anything west of I35 that you have to drive more than an hour from school to school.

Born and raised in Houston then moved to East Texas. Then transferred to Amarillo where I started officiating football. Then to Dallas and then to Tyler and now back in Houston area. 
Worked small 6 man to 6A football.

That said, I have worked football in a lot of venues in Texas. Old CCC built stadiums (Clarendon and Jacksonville), down in Valleys (Canyon) on high hills (Blue Ridge). Big stadiums, little stadiums, in rain, snow, sleet, heat, wind and most everything in between.

While the terrain, sites and sounds may be different, there is nothing to compare to Texas high school football.

Now back to your original topic.
Yes West, TX is actually pretty far east and Mason ain’t nowhere near west Texas.

Born and raised about 40 miles east of Waco, then moved to West Texas around 6th grade, then the panhandle for high school. 

That said:  There's actually two areas known as central Texas - Waco claims to be central (when I was in Scouts, it was the HOT - Heart of Texas Council). but Brownwood claims to be the Heart of Texas as well.  I'd define central Texas as a narrow band between say, 1-45and Brownwood (to include all of DFW metroplex) West Texas as between Brownwood San Angelo, Eastland, Throckmorton, and all points west to Lubbock, and north of the Hub City is the Panhandle, north Texas is from Throckmorton north to Oklahoma, including everything north of metroplex, South Texas is obvious, East Texas is everything east of I-45.

As I have always stated to my Northern Brethren from other states, Texas areas are as follow: Down in The Valley, Around The Hill Country, Near The Coast, Over in East Texas, Out in West Texas and Up in The Panhandle.
