I've no idea - I don't track the crews, just which chapter was selected.

All of the Tyler crews working at state this year have worked a state game in the past.

To my knowledge, every state championship we have gotten throughout the year is a coach requesting a crew or crews. Never just a generic chapter and then the assigner assigns....very few of our playoff games are assigned. Coaches do lots of requesting.

So our chapter doesn't use crews, so I would guess a small handful of requests come in for a specific whitehat, but generally, to my knowledge, all playoff games are just assigned by the assigner (because we don't have crews to request) based on what he thinks is the best fit for a particular game.

Agreed, I'd be surprised if any were chapter assignments. To that end, in 2018 a UIL request came to Houston and a crew was assigned a state championship game.

UIL assignments are different from crew selection.  All UIL Assignments are simply the UIL selecting a Chapter for the game assignment because the schools could not even agree to which Chapter to use, much less a single crew.  So, in that case, the assigned Chapter will select the officials to work the game.

  All of these games, on the other hand, are crew selections made by the schools themselves.   They have either used these crews in the past, or have called around, and these crews have been recommended to them.

Even a lot of the "UIL Assignments" the two coaches agree on the chapter and request that the UIL contact the chapter because neither coach trust each other to contact the chapter.  In some cases, coach's follow-up with the "UIL Assignment" and specify the crew they want.

We get games from teams that we have never worked before, and the coaches request a specific crew and I always ask how they came up with the crew and every single time they were recommended by coaches of teams we cover in the regular season.
