Here are some things you can remember.
Use all-but-one for everything.
If the end of the run is behind the LOS, the BASIC spot is the previous spot.
When there is a foul by the offense in the offensive backfield, you have to know whether the foul is previous spot or all but one (spot of foul).
An easy way to remember:
Fouls by the PLAYER are previous spot fouls (any blocking foul or personal foul).
Fouls by or with the BALL are spot fouls (grounding, illegal batting, illegal kicking, illegal forward pass). The only exception being illegal touching, which is previous spot.
Any foul in the end zone is a safety.
Throw that chart in the garbage.

If I could distill the new rule a little more, I would say you apply ABO like we always have, except now the enforcement spot cannot be further back than the previous spot (with the exceptions for spot fouls and fouls in the end zone, as noted above).
I fully agree that the table in the book is garbage. It's like the people who make those tables try to ensrine every possible scenario and in only ends up looking more complicated and confusing than it really is. My favorite table was the chop block table with the overly explained high/low blocking combinations, but I think they took that out. Every other table in the book now isn't really a "table" and is really just fancy formatted text.
