Super Bowl trivia tester....
« on: February 07, 2025, 06:24:40 AM »
I've asked this here before, so let's give the 'rookie' forum members first shot.....

FIVE COLLEGES HAVE IN THEIR ALUMNI BASE BOTH A U.S. PRESIDENT AND A SUPER BOWL WINNING QB. NAME THE SCHOOLS, PRESIDENTS AND QB'S :

A recent Final Jeopardy answer:

“Of the teams who played in the SB before Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, the only team who hasn’t played in one since.”

I thought this was quite easy, but none of the three contestants got it right.

It was Broadway Joe that got us to believe the AFL was NFL's equal with the W over the Colts. I then began to realize that the Patriots were closer to Maine than the NY giants  !

aWaRd YEA,ELVIS  aWaRd Back in the early 1900's the U.S. Congree honored Henry J. Ford. One senator said: "You must be really smart  yEs:". Ford replied : "No sir, only smart enough to know who the smart people are  8] >" Today fancy gismos have taken the place of people in many situations.

IMHO the G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time) of the list would be :
College - Navy, although Stanford is considered the 'Ivy League of the West Coast.
                   QB - Tom Brady
President - none in the top 10, you guys make the choice...

In considering the list of the five presidents, I find it a hard choice. None were re-elected to a second term which sez' something. Most had left bad memories ,consider :

Joe Biden           Open borders
Jimmy Carter      Inflation, lines at gas pumps
Gerry Ford          Pardoned Nixon
Herbert Hoover   Great Depression

"Little Ben" Harrison ...Did little, little happened during his term. He was the last president to wear a beard...He gets my choice, yours....

If getting things done is a priority quality, then we can only hope that Fordham or the University of Pennsylvania can produce a dark horse quarterback that goes on to win a Super Bowl. But in this day of transfer portals and NIL, the more talented players are gonna find their way to FBS schools. The FCS schools just don’t have much of a chance to field a SB level QB.
So, we wait.

Or on the flipside,  if we could find a president that went to a non-Ivy League school. Not many Ivy Leaguers become NFL QBs.Excepting Biden (Deleware) you would have to travel back to Reagan (Eureka College) to find one....
                                          Trump -Penn
                                           Obama - Harvard
                                           G.W. Bush - Yale
                                           Clinton - Yale
                                           G.H.W. Bush - Yale
I do believe that Brian Downing was a QB at Yale and then to the NFL but never in a Superbowl . Same for Harvard's Fitzpatrick. Unsure if Reagan's Eurska College had a football team, but we didn't have either a NFL or Super Bowl back then !  ;D

Just in case ya' didn't wonder, I'll tell ya' anyway....

Eureka College DOES have a football team...abid, not a very good one. :'(

Last season consisted of four games ;

Lost to Benedictine   42-0
Lost to Rockford       59-6
Lost to Aurura          56-0
Lost to St. Norbert    61-0

Jayden Crowder scored the lone  ^TD

I can't forsee any Super Bowl QB Eureka's football program in the next few years.  pi1eOn tR:oLl :puke:

Just a little correction.  RR went to Eureka College in Illinois...
My nephew went there maybe 20 years ago
