2024 Memo injury under 10 seconds
« on: August 13, 2025, 04:10:15 PM »
In 24 a Play interpretations Bulletin No. 2 was issued which was approved by UIL said...“
Quote
If a player injury occurs on a play where there is a temporary stoppage of the clock for a first down, and the clock is stopped with 10 seconds or less remaining in the 2nd or 4th quarters, the opponent has the option of a 10-second runoff. The 10-second runoff may be avoided by the use of a charged team timeout if available".

Now in 25 with new NCAA rule language about injury's and 10 second runoffs, it doesn't look like the UIL has an exception to include this in some form or fashion for 2025?

If the UIL ‘approves’ an NCAA rule in whole, then there is no ‘Exception” made. So, no, you won’t see reference to a new rule or editorial change in their “Exceptions,” if they approve that new rule or editorial change. The only things their list of “Exceptions” references are those things they reject in whole, or modify with their own language.
For 2025, the UIL has accepted 3-3-6-f, in its entirety.
However, the UIL rejected the 2025 added language at 3-3-6-a-1. For us, that means we do as we have always done in the past: ANY time we see a player presenting as injured (legitimately or otherwise), we interrupt the game, and bring this to the attention of his team, then resume play once that injured player is well off the field. No charged team time out, no penalty. But that player must leave the game and may not participate in the next down.
