Two interesting things in Shaw's weekly video.
Down 1 (involving numbering exceptions on a scrimmage kick formation)
There is nothing remarkable about the situation with the illegal numbering (except the fact that, apparently, this didn't get called). The guy that had been a numbering exception dropped back into the back field before the snap. He has to remain as an interior lineman, by rule.
The remarkable thing is the punt receiver. HE ACTUALLY MAKES A VALID FAIR CATCH SIGNAL! Haven't seen one of those in years.

Down 6 (involving DPI in B's end zone with the ball snapped at the B-19)
Nothing remarkable about the foul, but the penalty enforcement is worthy of discussion. We all know that the DPI during a regular scrimmage down is enforced according to the following:
S-2-15. 1) If the spot of the foul is not more than 15 yards from the yard line of the previous spot, the penalty is first down at the
Spot of the foul.
2) If the previous spot is between the B-17 and the B-2, and the spot of the foul is beyond the B-2, first down, the B-
2 , penalized
from the previous spot.3) If the previous spot is outside the B-17, and the spot of the foul is more than 15 yards from the yard line of the previous spot, the penalty, is a full
15 yards
from the previous spot.
I think we probably all knew the S-2-15 part, but I'm not sure we all recognize that the "2" and "15" penalties are FROM THE PREVIOUS SPOT, which means the ball needs to remain in line with the previous spot, between the hash marks.
The crew in this video got everything correct, consciously, I hope. I don't always see that happen, especially in Texas HS football.
Even in FBS football, occasionally, we would get the defensive team screaming,"That's half-the-distance!" EVERY time it happens in Texas HS football, we get that. No, coach. It's not. Full 15, if the PS is outside the 17.
Interesting examples.
