Free kick from the 2

Through a series of unfortunate events and personal fouls by B, Team A will free kick from the +2 yardline. (happened in Haynesville, LA, they had 6 personal fouls) Everyone is in place - kicking team on the 2, receiving team on the goal line. The kicker dribbles the ball to the 1 yard line, where it is not touched and ruled dead. (in the video, he just kicks the ball out of the EZ) 

In this hypothetical situation, the kick did not go 10 yards. Neither team has committed a foul or violation on the play, nor touched the ball. Is the only option, B 1/10 at the 1? It seems that really is rewarding A for a kick that does not meet requirements. But - it was B's poor choices that caused them to kick from the 10, so just more consequences of their actions?

10-5-f.  You can't free kick from inside the 15.  Were it a legal kick then yes the ball coming to rest at the 1 would be the end of the kick.

Thank you!  Good to revisit that rule - in my mind I had it as only the kicking team couldn't be backed up inside the 5, didn't remember that it applied both ways.

Not sure if NFHS (where this occurred) has the same rule or if it was misapplied.

NFHS requires a minimum 10 yard neutral zone for all free kicks.  Ref 6-1-1

In NFHS, we would use the chains to line up R at the -8.  K should just tip the ball off the tee.  R’s ball 1/10.
