I have been gone from Texas for many years but since I have been with several officiating conferences in the southeast, many fellow officials keep me up with Texas high school officiating. I just learned that TASO HQ  has removed the PRESIDENT,VP, & SECRETARY immediately. I do not know details but my guess is ELVIS LIVES or DAMMIT BOBBY could get some info. This info came from a former TASO board member so it sounds legit. Hope this is not a wild goose chase. P_S

That is what I have heard as well, some/all board members for a chapter were removed by TASO after grievances were filed by members of the chapter. I do not know what the grievances were, or any of the circumstances whether it is a legal issue or just policy violations,or any other details around this.  I am traveling for work this week and have been pretty disconnected. They have a few weeks to appeal and beyond that I have no idea what will happen.

Following a series of complaints from a chapter subcommittee, the chapter officers were removed by the state.  Now most of those subcommittee members are nominated to replace them.  Some fishy political games going on.

Most friends active & retired are very quiet about the situation however all I here is it is about policies. Chapter has put a large slate of candidates for each office but the election has been put off for now. With so many referees involved wonder if schedules are somewhat a factor.

Disagreements like this are almost always about who gets the most and/or “biggest” games.

Generally, yes... but that is not the cause of this kerfuffle, I am certain. This chapter has over 1200 members, and games are  assigned for the most part by coaches picking, they have a 'draft' every spring and coaches go in order and pick the crew they want for a particular game.  To a person, everyone that I have talked to has said this is specifically related to bylaws infractions of some kind.

Maybe it's associated with a specific individual who gets higher classification playoff and state championship games each year because he is selected by the coaches.  But, by the way, he also happens to be associated in business with also selling goods to those schools.  Certainly no conflict of interest there....

Having worked in Houston for years but long ago, the last two posts are almost certainly correct. As a  chapter officer in both SFO A & SBOA for over 8 years,  coaches picks in each sport are sometimes helped by the person assigning these games.

It's a sore point for most officials, for sure. Been done that way (at least in that chapter) since 1948.
