Clock status - replaying the down after a scrimmage kick

4 & 10 at midfield. K is flagged or an illegal formation at the snap. R chooses previous spot enforcement. When does the clock start if (A) kick is caught by R88 and downed in bounds at the R-1; (B) kick is recovered by K1 at the R-1; (C) kick is fair caught by R80 at the R-1; (D) kick rolls out of bounds at the R-1; (E) kick rolls into the end zone; (F) Inadvertent whistle is blown while the kick is in the air.

I've got snap in C-E

I tend to agree with you. Back in 1996, when we added 'snap on COP' , we felt that the probable time for teams to change from A to B- etc- would be best served by a dead clock. This change did not impact other clock stoppers, so I would add D to your list.

A) Ready.
B) Ready.
C) Snap due to fair catch.
D) Snap due to ball going OOB.
E) Snap due to touchback.
F) Ready due to IW.

Looks like we agree.

I want to submit an editorial change to 3-4-3b.  "B or R is awarded a new series and will next snap the ball.".

Too many officials think that since there was an "apparent change of possession" that we go on the snap.  This is not correct.  I think the rule needs to be clarified and I think that simple addition might clear up that misconception.
