4th Down Punt - Inadvertent Whistle

From one of this week's games:


4th and 14 for team A at the A-41 yard line.  A is in scrimmage kick formation and punts.  During the kick and well after the ball has passed the NZ, B-40 blocks A-25 (the gunner) and continues to block him well OB and into the bench area and beyond.  We have a flag down for PF-UNR.  Calling wing official follows the players into the team area and blows his whistle as the ball is about to be fair caught By B.  There is no question that the whistle sounded while the ball was still in the air.  We have an IW and get together to discuss what options to offer here.  What do we have to offer?  Rule references please.

A 1/10 @ B44 - Snap -  It might have ended up being a PSK foul but the kick was dead when the whistle blew so the only place to enforce the penalty is from the previous spot      4-2-3-d     10-4-2-b    3-4-3-c

Agree.  Acceptance of the penalty negates the IW.  Eager tweeter buys the first round.

Heard it different.  Those would have had an IW and those that lie they hadn't
