Interesting UIL Document

Not doing sports where UIL chooses officials for their tournaments, this document was somewhat eye-opening.  Apparently this is the basis for what they use to select officials for their tourneys.   I would challenge ANY chapter in ANY sport in our state to explain how the Chapter leadership can legiitimately identify its Top 25% without any sort of a formal observer/evaluation system in place.

I also wonder if their lawyers have explored the meaning of "ethnicity"?   (It is much different than "race" which is what they may mean).  Our ethnicity is not necessarily determined at birth as is our race.  They are opening up a can of worms here.  Do we get to self-identify our "ethnicity"?  If I was a black infant adopted at birth by a white anglo saxon family, am I African American or Anglo?  If I was born to a family of white anglo saxons but I have lived over half my life closely afficiliate with Hispanics, am I a Hspanic?  Can I be part-hispanic?

Love the extra list of otherwise "quality" officials.  Not sure what that means. So much for merit.

Well you have to remember that UIL is under the UT center for diversity.
