Scrimmage Kick Situations PreGame
« on: September 24, 2010, 07:24:36 AM »
As the F this week I am in charge of the pregame topic this week of Scrimmage Kicks. What suggestions or ideas do you think should be the hot topics to cover and even the basics too

- Keys or areas the crew should be looking for

- Post Scrimmage Penalties, definition

- Responsibility of the Kicking team in regards to fair catch, gunners, first touching

- Responsibility of receiving team in regards to center protection, roughing, illegal blocks, fair catch

- Goal Line coverage, touchbacks, momentum

- Also cover field goals

Its early so just a few topics, would like more topics and also what key points in the above really need to be hit upon.  Give some examples.

What resources are out there that can help me with this which i may not be aware of; videos, articles, anything

Thanks guys

I might add to stress your dead ball officiating on these plays. Sometimes more junk can come about on a scrimmage kick then on other plays.

Cover basic mechanics, who has bag on end of kick, when S and F get runner and when they hand over ( 2 yard line) etc.

Know status of ball when you have a penalty and might cover PSK.

S and U cover how they will align on trys and field goals.

Pre-snap keys to include a discussion with BJ about when your key (flyer) is blocked legally and contacts the receiver before ball arrives.
