Coby

I think there is nothing wrong with you letter but once anyone at UIL reads 'I have registered' then they will probably not read any more.

Arbitrator

I don't think the litigation will work to save TASO. It might guarantee that the UIL cannot charge for their registration scheme ever (if the court decides any such charge is a tax and one they are not allowed to levy).

The facts are, in my view simple, if enough TASO members register with UIL they can do what they like. If not enough TASO members register then they will need to come back to the table and TASO will hold a very strong hand.

I think the question is not who on here will or will not register but how many of the silent majority will.

The 1st November deadline is one decided for very deliberate reasons. If it forces enough people to join then UIL wins. If it does not then UIL can 'relax' the rule for the playoffs without losing too much face.

Make no mistake they will tell you not working these games is all about hurting the kids but it is not. It is still a power grab. If the kids were that important to the UIL then they would not be forcing the issue in this way. When someone wants power they do not really worry about who gets hurt.

The truth is most people do not give a damn who the officials work for. The only time they will sit up and take sides is if a game is threatened.

If the UIL does implement a lock out they will look bad. No matter how they dress it up the fact will be there were a crew of officials available and UIL stopped them working by setting an arbitrary date.

However enough UIL registered officials mean they don't need to do a lock out they will have cover.

The only questions will then be how many who say they will not register with UIL find they cannot stay away next year and if UIL does have the registration in place will they be benign or aggressive rulers.

Nice letter, Coby.  I doubt you will get a response.  Dirty scoundrels don't like the truth, and ignore it at all costs.
I can stand to continue working TAPPS games.  They still play football!  To **** with UIL!

Mr. Reedy replied to my letter.

He said directly that if Week 10 gets thrown into a tailspin, it will not be the fault of the UIL.  He failed to address the arbitrary date of Nov. 1.  He knows that its a bad idea.  But like most supers...he can't admit fault.

I say we just let the public hear the facts and let the chips fall where they may.  The PR campaign is a great idea.  I'll do my part.

You must not of had a game tonight seeing the fact that you are on this website at 4:09 PM. Most all the rest of us are preparing for our game tonight and you are playing on the computer. If you are only working Thursday night JV games you really ought to register with the UIL. Games are available and they want and need you.

Don't worry your pretty little head, Week 10 will be taken care of, even if the loyal UIL guys have to work Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. What ever it takes. TASO has to go!!!! Tony, have bag will travel.

I will be canceling my Sirius-XM subscription.  The pure comic gold out of you is great!  I love reading your posts.  Hard to believe this much comedy exists in this chat room.  You are denying the entire world your comedic genius - please take this show on the road.

Screw you!

I have an 11 game varsity schedule.  Most teams in Texas are in 6-team districts.  That means that they are off tonight.  Our chapter had 5 games to cover this week and 22 crews.  I could have worked, but instead I went to watch my daughter's band march at halftime.  I saw you working back judge at the game.  The only time you moved was when there was a change of possession and you had to switch ends of the field.  I was also impressed at how you watched the flight of the ball on every punt.  Nice!

If a game is at 7:30, then 4:09 is not out of the question, ornery1.  What an idiot.

I sent an email to the Dallas Morning News, but haven't heard back yet.

So Ornery 1 is a B.  That explains a lot.  One of my favorate sayings is: I'd rather have a sister in a LOVER house, than a brother who's a back judge!  Sorry TXMIKE - there are some exceptions - but it is more than time for you to go to R full time - you have a pretty good basic understanding of the rules.

Blind great letter..Yours too Ref thats left.  Old fart  I don't like how Ornery comes on here... But those that have decided to finish what they started should not be called scabs. I stand behind TASO. but I also stand with my crew that all wanna call and fufill the commitment they made to the 2010 season.  The UIL should be ashamed for putting this deadline on football but they did and that was wrong. But I made my choice to call this year when i paid my dues last year. The choice we have is when its time to pay dues this year to commit for next. I suspect  that if nothing changes some that won't sign up this year will next, and some that did sign up to fufill this season will not the next.

Gray...you've explained your stance and I respect your right to do what you see as right.

My comment was directed solely at ornery1.  I know he's just trolling to get people like me fired up, but I'm a sucker for a good debate!

In order to have a good debate you need 2 well-prepared and informed and articulate parties.  That leaves ornery out
