Have you voted in the TASO-football elections yet?
« on: October 06, 2010, 11:43:22 AM »
Elections for TASO-football officers are now ongoing at http://taso.org. You can get background information on the elections from the TASO blog, http://tasofb.wordpress.com. This vote gives all TASO-football members a say in the leadership. The http://taso.org website has statements from all the candidates.

OK, I'm going to ask the dumb question.  What is the difference between President-Elect and Vice President?

And isn't President-Elect the person elected president but has not taken office yet?

QAfta has a great question.

But yes, I voted.  I am glad their platforms and backgrounds were shared to assist in who we voted for.

I myself voted, and voted for one who rode my butt pretty good at a clinic a couple of years ago.

I found the answer to my question.  It was on the TASO website.  (I found the by-laws finally.)

For those who would like the answer:  (from the by-laws)

g. Duties.

President:  The President shall preside at all meetings of the Division and the Division Board; appoint committees as needed and act as liaison between the Division, TASO and other TASO divisions; conduct all negotiations on behalf of the District with the Executive Director or his/her designee; and further the policies adopted by the District.

President-elect: In the absence or disqualification of the President, the President-elect of the basketball, football, and soccer divisions shall assume the responsibilities of the President.

Vice President:  In the absence or disqualification of the President, the Vice President of the baseball, softball, and soccer divisions shall assume the responsibilities of the President. The Vice President of all divisions shall chair all standing committees but may delegate this authority while maintaining responsibility for the performance of the committees; act as liaison between committees and the Division Board; perform the duties of President in the absence or disqualification of the President; and perform all duties usually incident to the office of Vice President or which may be required by the President, the Division Board, or other provisions of these bylaws.

It is important to note the Pres-Elect is going to be there for 4 years.  He has his 2 year term as Pres-elect and then he is automatically moved into the office of Pres for 2 years after that.  So whomever you vote for for Pres-Elect needs to be someone you feel confident in putting in a leadership position for 4 years.  (Similar for Pres as he has a 2 year term and then 2 years as immediate past-president)

I voted. I just hope that, with the small amount of information available, I chose wisely, and did not vote for a UIL trojan horse. deadhorse:

Has anyone heard of the election results?  Voting was electronic so it should have been known at 5:01pm yesterday.

I can promise you that Tommy and Ken are not, and will never be, UIL registered.  Don't know about Cooper.  Being a school board Trustee, it would be a nice statement if he did not register -- but not sure he is working any TASO games anymore either.
