TASO Offices Moving to Richardson?

Just another way to blow whats left in the TASO bank account. It won't be much longer before this organization will be bankrupt. Its got to be costing a fortune for the lawsuit to begin with and now this. WOW are they gonna want there dues for 2011 a little earlier this year, my bet is yes!!! What a joke!!!!!

  What an idiot.  Very little cost.  I am sure rents are comparable to what was being paid, maybe even lower based on the area of town.  I understand Austin chapter volunteered to pack and Dallas chapter unloaded. 

  As for why, it is simple.  The office was traditionally in Dallas and only moved to Austin when Jim Blackwood retired as ED, and someone from the Austin area took over.  Now that Mike Fitch is the new ED, and lives in the Dallas area, the state office is moving back.

Ornery1: Since you are so certain that the Federal Judge in Austin is about to rule in favor of the UIL, why should it be any concern of yours as to where TASO wants to move its headquarters to? After all, the organization that you now have chosen to align yourself with continues to house itself in Austin.

So now you don't really have to fret and worry about having to polish apples up in the Metroplex as there are more than enough for you to shine right there in Travis County! Good night and good luck!

The rent savings alone amounts to $30,000 per year.  Thanks to the help from Austin Baseball and Dallas Football the total cost of the move was $700.

In today's age of technology, it is rather immaterial where the office is physically located (and as was already pointed out) the organziation did very well for many many years without being situated in Austin.

It appears to me that our dues have been excessive if we can downsize that much in 1 year or TASO leadership has been "living high on the hog" for quite some time. I think the entire membership should demand a detail of the salaries being paid to its leadership (Fitch and others) and its ex-officio's (Alexander) immediately and lets see how that $700 moving bill was spent!!!!!

The only thing I'm obsessed with is seeing the "Good Ole Boy system" aka TASO dismantled. Also, for the record I am a devout Republican and the money that you so passionately think I obsess over is partly mine seeing that I have been a dues paying member for over 25 years.

  As a "devout Republican" I am surprised that you would support a government takeover of officiating and regulation of sports officials.  If you have a problem with TASO, you change it from the inside.  The Government never makes anything better.

Say what you will, it doesn't matter any more. After the UIL spanks TASO's little behind the only ones who will be getting paid are the lawyers. Fitch, Alexander and the rest of the good ole boys who have had their hands in the pot for years, hope you enjoyed it, it soon will be coming to an end. Only the lawyers will come out on top. So find another source of income boys, the buck stops here!!!!

TASO/SOA was in Dallas for many years and did just fine there. I do not understand though why we do not look at the people we hire as Executive Directors and let them dictate where the office will be. I thought the members ran the organization? We pay this guy $60,000 a year and what exactly is he doing? I would like to actually see everything Fitch is doing. The decision making process that has taken place within TASO for the past 4 years is rediculous. I am not putting the sole blame on Fitch either. Alot of the blame here goes back to Ellinger and Blackwood. The problems between the UIL and TASO go directly to the structure we have in TASO and allowing the different boards to negotiate pay and other problems with the UIL. We need to remain TASO and let the UIL worry about taking care of the member schools and leave the officiating business to us. We need to be doing a better job of communicating and this is hurting us as an organization.
