See below for comments following your questions, preceded by RR.

RR: One important point to keep firmly in mind: Article 4 is titled "Out of Bounds at Forward Point," which means that everything that follows refers to a player going out of bounds.

A22 has the ball at the B-2 when he voluntarily goes airborne and the ball in player possession breaks the plane of the sideline at the B-1. Before contacting anything else, the ball still in player possession touches the right side of the pylon (the side away from the middle of the field).

RR: Touchdown. The pylon is in the end zone out of bounds, so the player has not gone out of bounds before going into the end zone. Article 4 does not apply.

Fork and napkin please..............................

Thanks for getting a clarification from RR! I don't think you need to eat anything, I think we've all been vehemently on the wrong side of a rules debate at one time or another (I know I've been - and more than once). You did what most of us wouldn't have done: contacted RR and let us know of the result. Now people on both sides of the argument have a better understanding of the rules, which is the real purpose of our arguments.

This is the same answer I got from Ben Oldham a few weeks ago (and posted here).  Makes sense, as Ben was a 25 year SEC official.

And yes, I lost my argument as well (and admitted it!).

Crow Pot Pie isn't bad.  Tastes like chicken.

Not to beat a dead horse(or offend anyone), but I just came in on this post....there was a question as to whether this play was a TD or not?

Yup, there were arguments as to whether or not the touching of the pylon is what matters or where the ball crossed the sideline matters.

Crow is quite good disguised as Buffalo Wings - the 5 alarm level sauce makes the original bad taste of the crow itself dissipate quickly with the intense burning sensation.  The subsequent pain is then quickly washed away with the appropriate accompanying beverage in significant quantities. :thumbup
